A.G.I.R, a Caen-based company specializing in the creation of immersive virtual reality experiences, and the Paramedical Campus of Caen University Hospital, today announced a unique partnership around a healthcare training project dedicated to pain management, with a particular focus on the care of people with autism spectrum disorders.
An educational innovation that benefits learners
The virtual reality module, tailor-made for healthcare students, aims to immerse learners in unique educational situations. Far from seeking to "mimic" clinical reality, it offers complementary experiences designed to reinforce understanding of the mechanisms of pain and explore various approaches to treatment. These scenarios also allow for the integration of often complex relational and human dimensions, while offering students a safe space for experimentation and new learning opportunities.
A response to a major societal challenge
The treatment of pain, particularly in neuroatypical populations such as people with autism spectrum disorders, remains a crucial challenge for the healthcare system. This project aims to address this need by combining the educational expertise of the Paramedical Campus of Caen University Hospital and the technological know-how of A.G.I.R.
COMMITTED REGIONAL PLAYERS
For the Paramedical Campus of Caen University Hospital:
"This partnership illustrates our desire to innovate in our teaching practices, to give our students tools that are adapted to the realities of the field. Virtual reality opens up unprecedented opportunities for healthcare training."
For Michel Barbier, president of A.G.I.R:
"We are proud to put our expertise to work on a human and medical issue. This module is fully in line with our mission: to make virtual reality a tool for social impact and knowledge transfer."
A reputation that extends beyond Normandy
This pilot project, developed and tested in Caen, is intended to be rolled out more widely in other healthcare training institutions, thereby helping to enhance the appeal and educational innovation of the Normandy region.
